Beaches, Books and Bumbos!

Lily has found lots of loves in her life: swimming, reading (not just any book, though, just THIS book) and her new Bumbo chair. Now that we're finally able to catch up the blog again, here are pictures from the past few weeks! She loves her daddy and is such a happy happy baby, reading her book for 20 or 30 minutes at a time, giggling and laughing almost everyday, and enjoying very much seeing the same people every day and STILL loves being at home the most!

She is teething, which has her in bouts of sporadic pain and crying, but she's handling it better than mom and dad, who hate to see her hurting!

Please be praying for her this summer! We are concerned about 6 weeks on the road with new people and schedules and places every day and being away from home...All these things could be potentially really hard for her, so we're praying that the Lord will bless her with peace and enable us to give her good stability!

4 months!

So hard to believe that four months has flown by already! Lily is blossoming at 27 inches (110% for height!) and 17 pounds (100% for weight!)She badly wants to sit up, and can do so with one hand of help...her "bobble head" is getting less shaky, EVERYTHING goes to her mouth, her teeth are beginning to hurt her, and every few days we can get some great laughs going.

She spent her birthday weekend in Port-au-Prince with Grandpa G and Grandma C, Greg and Cathie...and loved them! She got eaten alive by mosquitos, no matter what we did (as you can see!) but loved having play time with Cathie and loved snuggling into her "lazy-boy" Greg :)

Lily hates "tummy time" and gets all frustrated when put on her belly...She loves her play mat, and still favors her changing table and "Lily Frog" above all else. Loves bath time...loves looking at books, and LOVES her bouncy chair. She is so long that she can no longer lay vertically in her crib, though EVERY morning whenever I come to get her out of her crib, she has wiggled herself around and is crammed vertically again.

Lily loves to talk, and loves when she recognizes people. She doesn't like being away from home, and as much as she enjoyed Greg and Cathie, was extra fussy in Port and was happy as a clown when we returned home last night!

Her daddy is still the most amusing thing to her...and people continue to tell us that she looks 100% like him and not at all like me, or 100% like me and not at all like him. She must be ours!

Above all, she is a joyful little blessing of a baby, and we're continually so grateful for every moment with this precious gift! We're grateful to have received her, and to give her back to Him each day....

growing, growing...

On a different computer through a different browser we're finally able to get back on the blogs! Lily is FANTASTIC. So content, so happy, so low maintenance...we're blessed by her joy every day. She is growing longer and longer, and has graduated to size 2 diapers. She wants to sit up ALL the time, but can't do it without help, so wants held sitting up all the time. She watches EVERYTHING, smiles every time you come in the room, and loves when Matt sings ANYTHING to her.

Everything she can grab goes in her mouth, and she's laughing and giggling, which is THE best. She loves to talk, and will do so without ceasing at random times...just chatter, squeal, and make totally conversational faces the whole time.

She's not rolling over side-to-side yet, but is scooting EVERYWHERE. The moment you put her down at one end of the couch, she'll scoot as fast as she can to the other side. We can't lay her down on chairs anymore, because she'll scoot right off in two pushes. Even as it's starting to heat up, she is happy, though covered in heat rash :( What a joy Lily is!

As a side note, has anyone out there tried those new baby chair things? I think they're called "bumbo"s. Lily wants to sit up so badly, so I think she would like it, but they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive (I wouldn't pay $40 for a chair for US :)...do babies like them? Do they work (as in, hold the baby up well...feel safe?) Good investment?
Thanks!

Happy 3 Months!

How CAN it be? Sigh...What a joyful three months it has been, and my heavens, how it's flown. At 25 inches and 14 pounds, she is now 95 percentile for weight and 97th for height and HAS to be in the 100th percentile for happiness. Anyone with a smile can bust a grin from this girl!

For her birthday, she read "Peekaboo Kisses" for the thousandth time, enjoyed Daddy being back home, and mom even let her sit in her "easy chair" without her clothes on whenever it got really hot this afternoon. She is grabbing things, pulling EVERYTHING to her mouth, and wants to sit up and look around all the time. She's strong enough now to keep her head and neck steady if you hold around the waist, and every time we lay her down she fights to get up again :)

What a blessing she is!
