Lily, Mommy and Daisy Sue

Lily's cow, Daisy Sue, (whose favorite word is moo-moo-moo) is her absolute favorite thing. Every evening at bath time I pull tuffs of Daisy Sue fur from between Lily's fingers...and Lily's new favorite is chewing on Daisy's horns. Lily and Daisy will often wear each other out from so much play! I swear Lily looks EXACTLY like my sister when she was a baby in these photos!

Lily's also doing this new REALLY EXCITED smile (like in the photo with me) and also pursing her lips and puffing them out (a double pout :) whenever she is getting sad. She continues to just be SUCH a good baby, sleeping through the night, rarely crying, smiling for just about everyone, and bringing so much joy to both of our days here. There is nothing better, in the middle of a stressful day or at the end of a long meeting, than a Lily smile.

Grammy's little fairy...

Grammy, Cousin Marcelle and Shirl all left this morning...we wish all our family could just live in Haiti!!! Lily loved the extra attention, and Marcelle gave her this cute dress and little fairy wand. Lily is SO excited about being able to maneuver this wand that she continues to whack herself in the head with it and then smile and smile! Though we think Lily is beginning to look more and more like her mom, she still looks quite "in place" in the arms of her grammy and papa!

AND, big progress: Lily has slept ALL night, through the night, for the last 5 nights! She goes to bed at 8:00 and sleeps until 6:00 AM! We're getting more sleep now than we were when I was pregnant and she was kicking all night. We fully recognize that this is a miracle and are thankful!
She is SUCH a happy girl. What a realization comes with parenthood: that WE might be a true pleasure to our Father. Just our sheer company has the capacity to give Him joy...our actions the ability to make Him proud of us, pleased with us. Lily gives us so much joy, just by being who she is, and I give that to God, as well. I've never wanted to be such a good daughter for Him!
More exciting news: we've just learned that Lily's new cousin is a boy! Laura is 17 weeks pregnant!

grandpa's girl

This girl loves her grandpa! We had SUCH a good week with him, with good family time, good time with friends, and even a day at the beach! We were all thrilled to get Matt back yesterday, but sad to take Grandpa to the airport this morning. Lily and Matt celebrated their reunion with a big Sunday nap!

Lily taught me a lesson today! I needed to take a 5 minute shower, but always feel guilty leaving her while she's awake! So, I gave her a ridiculous amount of entertainment to make myself feel better and took a record fast shower...only to get out and find her fast asleep...guess what? She doesn't care!
